Kosice universities and the Slovak Academy of Sciences have created a scientific cluster

The Slovak Academy of Sciences, Technical University of Košice, Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice and University of Veterinary Medicine and Pharmacy in Košice have created a scientific cluster. The memorandum of cooperation was signed by the statutory representatives of four institutions - the President of the Slovak Academy of Sciences Pavol Šajgalík and the rectors of three universities Stanislav Kmeť (TUKE), Pavol Sovák (UPJŠ) and Jana Mojžišová (UVLF) on 1 October 2019.

The mission of the scientific cluster is to raise the national and international profile of its members, attracting exceptionally high-quality students, scientists, professional staff and investment. The cluster wants to contribute to the social, economic, cultural and environmental well-being and prosperity of the country. Its members will contribute to the creation, maintenance and transfer of the world's knowledge store. Another mission of the cluster is to strengthen the ability of the Slovak Republic to participate in global development and opportunities and profit from them in terms of global and local challenges. It is the interest of all members of the cluster to develop the possibilities of Slovak students to participate in global higher education, science and research regardless of their background.
