
UVMP graduates with university diplomas, one third studied in English
The end of June belongs to the final academic festivities at the University of Veterinary Medicine and Pharmacy in Košice. Graduation ceremonies of graduates of the University of Veterinary Medicine and Pharmacy in Košice will be held on 26 and 27 June 2025 at the National Theatre in Košice. A total of 366 young women and men from Slovakia and abroad will receive their diplomas at the graduation ceremony. A third of them graduated in English.
Among the graduates there are also 42 outstanding young people who graduated with honours - 24 in Slovak and 18 in English. The Rector's Prize will be awarded to four graduates of studies in Slovak language - one in the study programme General Veterinary Medicine, one in the study programme Food Hygiene, two in the Master's programme Animal Welfare and Protection and one student in the English programme General Veterinary Medicine. The Rector's Prize is awarded to graduates who have achieved a study average of up to 1.20 throughout their studies, have passed the state examinations in due time with excellent ('A') and very good ('B') grades, and have not been awarded a satisfactory ('D') or satisfactory ('E') grade during their studies.
On Thursday 26 June 2025, 51 graduates of the five-year joint master's degree programme of the University of Veterinary Medicine and Pharmacy in Košice and the University of Pavol Jozef Šafárik in Košice PHARMACY had their graduation ceremonies. They received their university diplomas from the hands of the graduator - Vice Dean for Education Martin Tomko.
Graduation ceremonies of graduates in the six-year doctoral study GENERAL VETERINARY MEDICINE in English, who come from Norway (31) and three-year bachelor's study ANIMAL SCIENCE in English, who also come from Norway (38) and are studying in the joint study programme of UVMP with the Norwegian Nord university Bodø, were held from 11 am. The diplomas were also handed over by Marit Bjørnevik, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Biological Sciences and Aquaculture at Nord University Bodø.

From 13:00 onwards, the graduates of the six-year PhD programme in GENERAL VETERINARY MEDICINE in English from France (31 students), Ireland (7), Israel (5), Iceland (2), Poland (2), United Kingdom (2), Brunei (1), Canada (1), Malta (1), Namibia (1), Slovakia (1), Switzerland (1) and the United Arab Emirates (1) stood on the stage. The Chancellor's Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement was awarded to Serena Faith Kishore Amrit, DVM.
