Profile of the graduate:

Study in the Veterinary Nurse study programme is aimed at acquiring knowledge in the field of intensive care for companion animals. The student has knowledge of diagnostic methods, basic knowledge of parasitic and infectious diseases of pets, interpretation of pathogenetic mechanisms in connection with disease processes, characteristics of tumors, developmental anomalies and immune disorders, the student is able to manage the veterinary reception and first contact with the patient and client. The student will master outpatient laboratory techniques, evidence and management of therapy for individual diseases, preventive veterinary health programs for puppies, adults and aging patients and patients with special needs, gains knowledge of management of handicapped, abandoned and zoo animals and have basic knowledge of hospitalized patient care management.

Professional orientation and application of the graduate:

Graduate of the Veterinary Nurse study programme can work as an assistant in veterinary practice, in education, in animal protection organizations, as an animal charity worker (shelters and quarantine stations), for the pharmaceutical industry, as an animal nutrition specialist, in areas of animal physiotherapy and rehabilitation, animal welfare inspector, as a researcher, pet trainer, pet sales representative, animal laboratory technician, rescuer or animal and zoo consultant, etc.
