Who are you thinking of when you pin the Daffodil? 10 April is Daffodil Day 2025
The League Against Cancer has been helping cancer patients and their loved ones in Slovakia for 35 years. Thanks to the public-benefit fundraiser DAY OF NANCES, this help is very intensive and effective. The 29th year of the fundraiser will take place on the streets of towns and villages on Thursday, 10 April 2025. Also on the campus of our university you will meet volunteers with cash boxes - our students. Join the collection and donate to a good cause! There are approximately 40 000 cancer patients in Slovakia every year. Unfortunately, almost all of us know someone who has been affected by this challenging disease. By pinning a yellow daffodil flower, we express our sympathy and solidarity to people with cancer, we give them a signal that we are thinking of them.
Join Daffodil Day and support a good cause with one small yellow flower that says a lot — about solidarity, about belonging, about the human power to help. Our volunteers will be waiting for you with a smile and daffodils that have the power to brighten your day — and maybe someone else's life. Pin a daffodil and be part of a day full of goodness. #DaffodilDay #Let'sGrowTogether #UniversityHelps #LigaProtiRakovine
Daffodil Day is not just a fundraiser. It is also an important moment when we as a society realise that cancer does not only affect patients themselves, but also their families, friends and colleagues. "It is a day when we collectively declare that no one has to be left alone in this difficult situation. It is not only a fundraiser, but also a space to convey the message to the young generation - volunteers - that help belongs to the person and nothing can replace humanity," says Eva Kováčová, Executive Director of the League Against Cancer. "Every donation, every pinned daffodil and every person who decides to help is a step closer to supporting patients and helping more effectively. That's why on April 10, we're asking again: Who are you thinking about when you pin your daffodil? We think of the thousands of people we have helped in our 35 years in Slovakia, those we are currently helping, and those who have been robbed by cancer of precious years of life they could have had ahead of them. We are also thinking of you, whom we can help by educating and challenging you to prevent cancer," adds Kováčová.
This is what this year's Daffodil Day volunteers look like, each with a registration number in a flower on their T-shirt.
