On Wednesday, April 21, 2021, at the entrance to the campus of the University of Veterinary Medicine and Pharmacy in Košice, a guardian of wisdom settled. The large stone statue of an owl is a gift from the Chamber of Veterinary Surgeons of the Slovak Republic to the 70th anniversary of the university. Although owls begin to nest very early in the spring, the eve of Earth Day proved to be the best date for our owl.

An owl stands on a book. Sculpture has a symbolic meaning for the university - a combination of wisdom and education. At the same time, it is another symbol of the animal kingdom, which is the focus of our students, scientists, educators and employees. The sculpture was made of sandstone by the Moravian sculptor Pavel Žvaček. It has a height of one meter and a weight of 250 kg.
