Students graduate from matriculation - their first academic ceremony
On Thursday, 17 October 2024, students of the first year of all study programmes of the University of Veterinary Medicine and Pharmacy in Košice attended their first academic ceremony - matriculation. The matriculation certificates from the hands of the Vice-Rector for Education Martin Tomko were received by students in the study programmes of General Veterinary Medicine in Slovak and English, Food Hygiene, Pharmacy, Veterinary Nurse, Cynology, Feed and Food Safety, Human-Animal Relationship and its use in Canisterapy and Hippotherapy.
"The matriculation ceremony is not only a confirmation of your inclusion in the academic community. With this historic act, you assume all the rights and responsibilities of a college student. You gain the right to demand a highly professional and stimulating environment and the obligation to do everything in your power to acquire the required knowledge, skills, and habits. You have both the right and the obligation to use your years of study to become recognized professionals in your profession. All the more so because your profession will be connected with living beings," said Jana Koščová, UVLF Vice-Rector for Science, Research, Doctoral Studies and Internationalisation, in her speech on behalf of Rector Jozef Nagy. "You are standing at the beginning of a journey that will be long and not always easy. There are many trials ahead of you - literally and figuratively. You will have to cope with a new environment, new people, challenging disciplines and a more complex way of studying. It will require all your effort, determination and patience. We have created all the conditions for you to have a high-quality educational process in line with the latest findings of science and technology. You should make the most of what the University and its teachers can offer you. Build on their knowledge and experience, develop all the talents you have been given. You will need them in your future profession."
The students were also addressed by the President of the UVMP Academic Senate Slavomír Marcinčák and the President of the UVMP Academic Senate Chamber of Students Adam Körosi.
