Brazilian Ambassador Gabriel Boff Moreira, who has been representing the Federative Republic of Brazil in Slovakia since October 2023, presented the basic background of the interest in cooperation in the field of agriculture. He introduced the Brazilian Agricultural Research Company Embrapa, which was founded by the country's federal government in 1973 with the aim of creating the technological basis for a truly tropical model of agriculture and animal husbandry. The aim of this initiative was to ensure Brazil's food security and leadership in the international market for food, fibre and energy. Today, Embrapa is one of the largest agricultural research corporations in the world. It is under the umbrella of the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA) and seeks to achieve its goals in dialogue with farmers, scientific organizations, and government and civil society.
Rector Jozef Nagy sees room for cooperation in the field of veterinary medicine and food hygiene, regenerative medicine, or in the field of biological and pharmaceutical sciences. Ambassador Moreira expressed his conviction about the success of possible cooperation also at the third level of higher education in the fields offered by UVLF. The topics raised could be further elaborated during the tour of the University, when the guests visited selected departments, in particular the University Veterinary Hospital, the Clinical Skills Centre and the Clinical Housing Facilities.
