The Rector and the Ombudsman signed a memorandum of cooperation in the field of animal protection

The memorandum of cooperation was signed on Thursday, December 10, 2020, by the Rector of the University of Veterinary Medicine and Pharmacy in Košice, Jana Mojžišová, and the Animal Ombudsman, Zuzana Stanová. At the university meeting, they expressed a common belief in the need for active cooperation in improving animal and nature conservation conditions. Both parties are interested in a comprehensive solution to issues of a broader social nature, so they want to work closely together in fulfilling their tasks.

The aim of the cooperation is to achieve positive changes in the field of animal protection, welfare, breeding and welfare, but also to increase the level of legal awareness and education in the field of nature protection and animal protection. Both parties will provide maximum cooperation and will cooperate on the principle of voluntariness and free of charge. They will provide each other with materials related to the protection, health and welfare of animals and nature, exchange relevant expertise on developments in various areas of interest. It will mainly involve the provision of opinions and opinions, inter alia in matters of particularly serious cruelty and neglect of animals, but also in the drafting and amendment of legislation in the veterinary field. Both parties expect active participation in the lectures and events they will organize, especially those concerning legislation related to animal protection and health. Professional cooperation will cover animal health and welfare, research projects, workshops, thematic circles or educational events. Both entities also want to apply for grants from cross-border funds together.
