Irish Consul visiting University

The representative of the Embassy of Ireland in Bratislava, Consul/Deputy Head of Mission Mr. Conor McDonagh, visited the University of Veterinary Medicine and Pharmacy in Košice on Wednesday 16 October 2019. At the Rectorate, he met with the Vice-Rector for Education Martin Tomko and the Vice-Rector for Clinical Activities and Professional Relations Alexandra Trbolová. The conversation concerned about the position of the university in the Slovak higher education system and its recognition at the European level. The Irish consul was interested in educational opportunities for Slovak and foreign students, especially a group of 35 Irish students currently studying at the university.

Ireland has extensive experience in agriculture and processing of agricultural products. Consequently, the Consul focused on food hygiene. During a tour of the University Veterinary Hospital, he appreciated the quality and scope of outpatient care as well as the unique opportunities it offers students in gaining knowledge and experience in veterinary practice. Mr. Consul also met Irish students in a brief interview.
