Characteristics of the department

Institute of Pathological Anatomy

Institute of Pathological Anatomy provides education of compulsory (Pathological Anatomy, Diagnostic Pathology and Pathology – the last for Slovak students only) and optional compulsory subjects (Applied Cytology and Guidelines to Good Laboratory Practice – the second one for Slovak students only). Scientific research activity of Institute of Pathological Anatomy deals mainly with study of immune response of intestinal mucous in chickens modulated with organic zinc and challenged with Eimeria spp, after Campyloacter spp. infection with or without probiotics application. Institute of Pathological Anatomy provides also diagnostic necropsies and histopathological examinations for veterinary surgeons from Slovak Republic. Results of these works provides broad spectrum of material serving for diploma, bachelor and rigorous works preparing. Institute of Pathological Anatomy is also a training centre for postgraduate education in the field of study 6.3.3 - Veterinary Morphology and Physiology.

Institute of pathological physiology

Institute of pathological physiology provides pregradual education of subjects of Pathological Physiology and Applied Veterinary Hematology in the study programs General Veterinary Medicine, Food Hygiene in Slovak and English Language; in the study program Pharmacy provides education of the subject of Physiology and pathological physiology in the Slovak language. Workers of the Institute of Pathological Physiology are supervisors of diploma, bachelor and rigorous theses. The Institute of Pathological Physiology is a training centre for postgraduate education in the field of study 6.3.3 - Veterinary Morphology and Physiology. The research activity of the Institute of Pathological Physiology is focused on the study of the effect of biologically active substances in essential oils, mineral and phyto-genic additives affecting physiological functions in the body, factors affecting intestinal barrier and oxidative damage and antioxidant protection of organism.
