Institute of anatomy within its educational activities, provides instruction for Slovak students in six study programmes and for foreign students in the English language in four study programmes. The subject Anatomy is an elementary pre-clinical discipline, whose role is to give a comprehensive overview of the state of the animal`s body with regards to the topography of individual organs in conjunction with clinical practice. The instruction runs in the form of lectures and practical exercises.
Veterinary histology deals with microscopic structure of cells, tissues and organs of healthy animals. Histology utilizes knowledge of anatomy, biology, biochemistry and physiology. It is inevitable for obtaining knowledge and understanding of the functioning of healthy animals as well as understanding of structural changes in organs at various disease states taught within pathology and clinical disciplines. The teaching activities include also embryology, which deals with individual development of animals. The aim of teaching is to explain ongoing changes during the normal ontogenetic development of animal organism and provide information about most frequent disorders of embryonal development important from the clinical and breeding points of view.
